TAA Exclusive Series For 2014
The Tobacconists’ Association of America is a trade organization that was established in 1968 by retail tobacconists. Each year retail members of the TAA get together for an annual meeting and convention, this year’s meeting was held in Cabo San Lucas, March 23-27. Over the years there have been several wonderful limited edition cigars that have come out of the TAA convention and this year is no different. The following is a brief summary of the TAA Exclusive Series releases for 2014.
La Flor Dominicana TAA Exclusive 2014 – The 707⁻’: This year’s TAA release from LFD will be a monster 7 X 70 in the Ligero blend. It’s retail price will be $10.50 per cigar and will come packaged in a 24 count box. The estimated release date is late April or early May and ‘The 707⁻’’ will be the largest ring gauge La Flor Dominicana has ever released.
AVO 2nd MOVEMENT TAA Exclusive: Following up last year’s TAA release, ‘First Movement’, AVO will be releasing ‘2nd Movement’ this year. ‘2nd Movement’ will be a medium to full bodied blend in a 6 ¼ X 47 format. 1500 boxes of 20 cigars is expect to be released in June at a retail price of $11.00 per cigar.
Padron 1964 Belicoso TAA Exclusive: Unlike the TAA Exclusive Padron 1964 Toro, which is a regular production cigar, Padron is releasing a limited edition 5 X 52 Belicoso in the 1964 blend exclusively for TAA members. Available in both a natural and a maduro wrapper, we should expect to see this released in June with a retail price of $15.00 per cigar, available in 25 count boxes.
H. Upmann Bank Note TAA Exclusive: A small run of 400 boxes is due to release in April from H. Upmann for this TAA exclusive. The ‘Bank Note’ will be a 5 ½ X 48 Corona sized cigar featuring an Ecuadorian Habano Wrapper. It will come packed in 12 count boxes with a retail price of $8.95 per cigar.
Tatuaje TAA 2014: Year #4 for the Tatuaje TAA will see a 6 X 52 sized cigar, this size falls in between the 2011 & 2012 Tatuaje TAA sizes. The blend will also feature a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and like the first two TAA editions, will be box pressed with a covered foot. Offered in 20 count boxes, retail price will once again be $11.00 per cigar and will see its arrival to TAA shops in late August or early September.
Crowned Heads ‘The Angel’s Anvil’: Jon Huber chose to model the Crowned Heads TAA 2014 release after one of his favorite Cuban cigar sizes, the classic 7 1/8 X 49 churchill. ‘The Angels Anvil’ will feature an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and production will be limited to 1000 twenty count boxes. Be on the lookout for these cigars in June with a retail price of $10.50 per cigar.
My Father 2014 TAA Exclusive: The final TAA Exclusive Series cigar comes from cigar legend Don “Pepin” Garcia, a 6 X 50 box pressed toro in the My Father blend. This full-bodied cigar is expected to be released in 20 count boxes in late April or May and will be priced at $11.00 per cigar.
