IPCPR 2013 Trade Show Recap

A few of us from Emerson’s Cigars attended the annual International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailer (IPCPR) trade show. This year’s convention was held at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 13-17. The trade show floor was bursting at the seams with all the new products to be released over the next few months. It’s hard to pick which product stood out above the rest, but the highlight of the show was definitely the Davidoff booth. From the new releases of Davidoff Nicaragua and the limited edition Room 101 “One” to the complete relaunch of Camacho, the Davidoff group had a lot to show off this year. After smoking several of the new Davidoff Nicaragua, I can say that it is going to be very well received.

Some of the new cigars on display at this year’s IPCPR trade show are now available at Emerson’s Cigars and can be purchased online or at any of our 5 retail locations in Hampton Roads:

Davidoff Nicaragua – The Davidoff Nicaragua is a departure from Davidoffs’ predominate use of Dominican tobacco. With 10 years of preparation, curing and ageing the Davidoff Nicaragua delivers an exceptional blend with all the intensity, excitement and refined sophistication aficionados would expect from Davidoff.
Don Pepin Garcia 10th Anniversary Toro – To celebrate his 10th year as a manufacturer, Don Pepin Garcia has created a limited edition toro cigar. This full-bodied Nicaraguan puro comes packaged in individual coffins in boxes of 24 cigars.
J. D. Howard Reserve from Crowned Heads – J. D. Howard is the alias that the Jesse James used during his years living in Nashville. Much like its namesake, the cigar’s character is bold yet refined; its flavor profile is simple yet complex. It meets your palate with a spicy pepper rush and leaves it with subtly sweet cocoa notes.
Montecristo Connoisseur Edition Collection – The Montecristo Connoisseur Edition Collection is a limited edition eight cigar sampler featuring two of each of the previously regional exclusive cigars. The regional cigars are New York, Chicago, Texas and Las Vegas editions, with each cigar being a different blend and slightly different size.
Nat Sherman 1930 – 1930 was the year that Nat Sherman was founded, they choose to honor the year by creating one of the fullest Nat Sherman releases to date. The Nat Sherman 1930 starts with notes of cocoa, pepper and earth, yet has the nice smooth finish one expects from Nat Sherman.
Oliva Series V Melanio Maduro – Oliva has released a limited edition run of the Series V Melanio Maduro. Switching up normal Sumatra wrapper for San Andres Maduro wrapper, the Series V Melanio Maduro is available only as a torpedo and will be limited to 10,000 boxes of 10 cigars.
Perdomo Champagne Sun Grown – The Perdomo Champagne Sun Grown is a Nicaraguan puro that features a Habano seed wrapper that is grown in the Jalapa region of Nicaragua. The cigar is rich in flavor, but easy enough on the palate to be enjoyed any time of the day.
Wynwood Factory Fresh La Coneja – The Wynwood Factory Fresh lines are designed to let the cigar smoker find the right age for enjoying their cigars. La Coneja is a medium-bodied cigar that features Corojo tobaccos for the wrapper and binder with a filler blend of 30% Ligero, 10% Pelo de Oro, and 60% Habano.
Wynwood Factory Fresh Rout – Best described as a medium plus, the Rout consists of Corojo tobacco for the wrapper and binder, while the filler is a unique combination of 40% Ligero, 30% Pelo de Oro, and 30% Habano.
Wynwood Factory Fresh La Granada – For those that prefer a much stronger cigar there is the ligero laden La Granada. La Granada is a powerhouse of flavor with Corojo wrapper and binder tobacco and filler consisting of 70% Ligero, 10% Pelo de Oro, and 20% Habano.
