How To Choose A Cigar

Is today the day I smoke that special cigar I have been saving?

For many of us, picking that perfect cigar for the occasion can be a trying process. You open the humidor and stare blankly at your choices. There are a few factors that can influence choosing that cigar you want to smoke. Here are a few things that I take into consideration when picking my cigar.

First of all, size does matter. If I am a bit pressed for time I will pick a smaller cigar like a Corona or Robusto. When time isn’t an option then I am free to choose whatever size I wish. There is no need to pick a cigar that will take longer than the time you have. You’ll either end up wasting part of a good cigar or smoking it too fast to truly enjoy it.

The next thing I consider is the location of which I will be smoking. Smoking a cigar outside when the weather is too cold or too hot tends to make me want to once again pick a smaller size. I never want anything to hamper my enjoyment of a cigar and weather is definitely something that will do just that. Indoors or at a cigar lounge, once again this isn’t a factor in me deciding what to smoke.

I know some like to save certain cigars for that special occasion. Whether it is that high-end Opus X cigar, the last Tatuaje in a box or one of those original release Anejos you have been holding on to and just can’t bring yourself to smoking yet. Personally, I feel that smoking the cigar is the special occasion. After all, cigars are meant to be smoked and not collected wouldn’t you agree?

So in short, find the time, the right place and pick the best cigar you have and enjoy the hell out of it. Make your decision an easy one and light one up!
