Change the Wrapper and BAM! La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Reserva Beso Review

Ashton really hit a homerun with the launch of La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor. This medium bodied cigar boasts bold notes of pepper and earth with a smooth finish. Following up the success of the Mi Amor meant Ashton would have to create a cigar that surpassed all of the qualities that made the Mi Amor a success, while making it different enough to stand on its own. The answer to this problem came in the form of the La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Reserva. While it may be a line extension of Mi Amor, the Reserva packs a flavor that’s truly its own.

3 Sizes of the Mi Amor Reserva

Construction and Pre-light notes: The Mi Amor Reserva has a wonderful red hue to the otherwise dark Mexican Cuban Seed wrapper. The shape of the cigar is a traditional parejo with a slight box press. With a quick snip of the cap and a draw test, I notice notes of earth, spice, and cocoa with a soft coffee finish. Based on the draw test alone, I can tell that the Mi Amor Reserva will be a completely different experience from the regular Mi Amor. With great anticipation, I put the flame to the foot and begin toasting what will surely be a delectable cigar.

The First Third of the Flavorful Reserva

1/3: With plumes of smoking dancing in the air, I take my first draw of the Mi Amor Reserva and am greeted with a strong pepper spice, with slight notes of cocoa in the background. Since the Reserva is blended by Don “Pepin” Garcia, the strong pepper introduction does not surprise me as it can be found in many cigars out of the My Father factory. Soon after the first quarter of an inch, the spice gives way to a sumptuous banquet of cocoa, coffee, earth, and a delicate spice finish. By the end of the first third, my palate is swimming in a sea of flavors mentioned earlier. While I like the Mi Amor, I find myself loving everything about the Mi Amor Reserva. The burn of the cigar is fantastic and the draw continues to be effortless.

The Second Third of the Reserva

2/3: The second third continues where the first third left off by developing a balanced flavor profile. In addition to a great balance of cocoa, coffee, earth, and pepper notes; the cigar begins to develop a very slight fruit note, reminiscent of dried fruit, on the retrohale. The last portion of the second third develops a slightly elevated pepper finish that enhances the other flavors of the cigar.

The Finish of the Fantastic Mi Amor Reserva

3/3 and Parting Thoughts: The Mi Amor Reserva finishes the way it began, fantastic. The balanced profile from the second third carries over to the finish of the cigar. The cigar maintains its diverse and delicious profile, with earthy and dark chocolate notes taking charge of the cigar. The retrohale on the final third is characterized as earthy and peppery with a semi-sweet finish. If the original Mi Amor was a homerun, then the Mi Amor Reserva can best be described as a Grand Slam. This cigar has a wonderfully diverse flavor that is sure to please fans of the regular Mi Amor as well as aficionados who enjoy a well balanced medium to full bodied cigar. The La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Reserva is available at all 5 Hampton Roads locations in 4 sizes, 24 count boxes and 6 packs are also available online at emersonscigars.com.
