Cigar Review: Avo 25th Limited Edition Toro

Avo 25th in Piano Box

New at Emerson’s Cigars, Avo 25th Anniversary Limited Edition!

Limited to only 2,000 boxes of 25, the Avo 25th Limited Edition celebrates Avo Uvezian’s 25 years in the cigar industry. Combining his passion for cigars and music, these wonderful cigars come in a stunning Grand Piano inspired box. The Avo 25th is a Dominican Puro combining a Dominican Crillo Sun-Grown wrapper, with a Dominican binder, and filler from three different growing regions in the Dominican Republic to create a cigar that has all of the qualities that have made Avo cigars well known all over the world.

Construction: The dark tan Dominican Crillo Sun-Grown wrapper is wrapped perfectly on the cigar. The draw is highlighted by subtle earthy notes with a hint of floral notes.

First Third of Avo 25th

1/3: Right away the cigar opens with signature Avo notes of floral flavors. The cigar soon stands out from other Avo cigars with the addition of a spice note reminiscent of light cumin. Midway into the first third, a slight black pepper note is noticeable on the retro hale. While the cigar has a complex profile, the flavors never become muddled or overpowering. In true Avo fashion, the cigar is full of great flavor that keeps me intrigued about what flavors will be revealed next.

The Second Third of the Avo 25th

2/3: The second third of the cigar is marked by the introduction of elevated pepper and earth notes. While the second third is fuller bodied, it is still very enjoyable. The subtle cumin is still present on the retro hale, while the floral notes have disappeared from the cigar. By the end of the second third, the pepper notes have been balanced by the addition of a semi-sweet coca.

The Final Third of the Avo 25th

Final third and Parting thoughts: By the final third, the pepper that dominated the second third has disappeared, leaving a sweet and smooth cigar, with notes of coca and a nice floral note on the retro hale. The cigar has remained in the full bodied range, but has stayed very pleasant in terms of flavor. Overall, the Avo 25th is a great addition to the Avo line; the construction of the cigar was fantastic, with an even burn and delightful draw. The cigar has all of the qualities that made Avo famous, while having a flavor that makes it stand out from the rest of the Avo line. Since the cigar is limited to 2000 boxes of 25, this cigar will not be around for long.
